Question in black type - Answer from our Readers in blue type
#1. What is your opinion of the main
airport at Las Vegas, McCarran? Is the airport easy to use, located
correctly, to big, to small, baggage claim easy to find, baggage easy to
find or what? Tell us your experiences
and opinions of the airport.
* If it is over
100 degrees, it can be a long wait to take off. We waited for 3 hours
"in the plane" waiting for clearance to take off. There is only
one runway - we were told - that can handle jets in the thin air of the
heat. They should have another runway to handle things in the heat.
Otherwise a nice airport. Jim Longbons
* The baggage
claim is slow. The car rental facilities are excellent. It is very easy to
get caught in a wrong lane and make one or two extra trips around the
terminal when taking someone to the terminal (picking them up). The
merry-go-round entrance and exit at the parking garage can be a once in a
life time thrill (?). Overall it is a good airport and will never get over
its growing pains. HBHWANGO
* Haven't had a
bad experience at the airport. I take into consideration the fact that
it's going to be crowded and I'll have to wait for luggage etc. Have been
in better airports. Karen V Bujnoski
* We found that
the passenger elevators leading from the baggage pose a severe area of
congestion and unnecessary delay. You can easily wait up to 20 minutes or
more just attempting get onto an elevator. All other facilities and
traffic patterns we found are very well laid out, (once you can get an
elevator that is.) paladin
* My wife and I
come into Las Vegas several times a year and always take our luggage carry
on so we don't have to wait at the carousels for luggage. It makes a big
difference to just get off aircraft and get to taxi boarding area. Yes
it's big but so is the city it serves. I think it it a very well designed
terminal overall. Donald L. Harrison
* I found my way
around pretty easy, loved the shops they have there, like the convenience
of having the gym, but the elevator wait was hard on your
nerves!!!! Cynthia Scott
* I guess I must
be against growth, it seems the old airport was so much easier to get
around and less crowded. Since Las Vegas has grown so much over the
years I guess it makes sense that I should wait 45 minutes for my bags,
but it does not mean I have to like it. Mel LV.
